Kevin Kuethe began working in the cannabis industry during Arizona’s medicinal legalization in 2010. When Kevin started at Lume Cannabis Company, his first cultivation facility had over 600 HID lights and began seeing mass fixture failure over time.
Lume knew to avoid the massive heat output from HIDs that transitioning over LEDs were the inevitable future. When first introduced to Fohse, the team had already been testing lights from several different LED providers.
Almost immediately, the cultivation team noticed higher yields, bigger colas and less larf with the Fohse lights compared to other competing LEDs. The Fohse A3i also gave the team the ability to control light intensity and change the spectrum throughout the flower life cycle. These results caused Lume to quickly transition over 75% of their lights to Fohse LEDs within just 2 years. The A3i produces 58% more light per fixture than an HPS system, which also significantly reduced the strain on Lume’s cooling systems.
Staying cutting edge with technology has been critical to Lume’s success. Over 14 cultivation facilities later, Lume continues on a serious grow path with Fohse LEDs.
The team is now on track to open 100 retail stores in the state of Michigan in 2024, all featuring cannabis that is primarily LED grown.
